Alesund Panorama

After climbing over 400 icy steps, the view of Alesund in Norway from Aksla Mountain was well worth the effort. Without 'Yaktraks' on my boots, it would have been impossible. A resident of the town, who was a helicopter rescue medic, came down the steps for a large part on her bottom! The ship MS Nordkapp, from where I walked, can be seen on the right. The wooden buildings of Alesund burnt down in 1904 and the town was rebuilt in Art Nouveau style (David).
